Description
A delicious chocolate cake layered with creamy custard and topped with a rich chocolate glaze.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 2 large eggs (room temperature)
- 1/2 cup whole milk
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter (melted)
- 1 tsp pure vanilla extract
- 2 cups heavy cream (for glaze)
- 1 cup semisweet chocolate chips
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease two 9-inch round cake pans.
- In a bowl, mix flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt. In another bowl, whisk eggs, milk, melted butter, and vanilla. Combine wet and dry ingredients without overmixing.
- Pour batter into pans and bake for 25-30 minutes until golden brown. Let cool.
- For the custard, heat milk in a saucepan. Whisk egg yolks with sugar and cornstarch; slowly add hot milk to prevent curdling. Cook until thickened (5-7 minutes) and add vanilla.
- For the glaze, melt heavy cream with chocolate chips until smooth.
- Assemble the pie: place one cake layer on a plate, spread custard on top, add the second layer, and drizzle with chocolate glaze.
Notes
- Ensure the eggs are at room temperature for better mixing.
- Let the cake cool completely before assembling with custard and glaze.
- You can refrigerate the assembled cake for a firmer texture.
