Deliciously sweet and buttery shortbread bars layered with tart apples and a hint of cinnamon.
Ingredients

- 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
- ¾ cup granulated sugar
- ½ cup cold unsalted butter (cubed)
- 1 tsp cinnamon (plus extra for garnish)
- 3 cups tart apples (like Granny Smith), peeled and sliced
- ¼ cup brown sugar
- 1 tbsp lemon juice
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a rectangular baking pan or line it with parchment paper.
- In a large bowl, combine flour, granulated sugar, and cold butter until the mixture resembles wet sand.
- In another bowl, toss the apple slices with lemon juice, brown sugar, and cinnamon until well-coated.
- Press half of the shortbread mixture into the bottom of the prepared pan. Spread the apple filling evenly on top, then sprinkle the remaining shortbread mixture over it.
- Bake for 40-45 minutes until golden brown. Allow cooling completely before slicing into bars.
Notes
- These bars are best served chilled or at room temperature.
- Garnish with extra cinnamon for added flavor.
